June 6, 2024 – The Central Illinois Christians in Mission were presented a $20,000 grant by the United Way of Decatur and Mid Illinois, the first time the organization has received United Way funding.
Central Illinois Christians in Missions provides families and individuals in the Decatur area with household goods such as furniture and appliances. They have served over 1400 families each year for the past four years, providing household items at no cost. Clients are referred to them by social organizations, schools, and churches in the area.
CICIM is looking to replace one of its box trucks used to pick up donated items and the grant from the United Way will make that possible.
“We have been in this particular location since 2007. The building was donated, and we have been using it since then…We’re very appreciative for whatever we get” stated CICIM Board Member, Jerry Aldridge.
President of United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois, Debbie Bogle states “To make sure that they have the vehicles that they need in order to pick up and deliver household items to people in need….We couldn’t do it without the community”.
