March 9, 2020 – Governor JB Pritzker has issued a state disaster proclamation as four new cases of COVID-19 are reported in Illinois. This brings the total to 11, however, all of the identified patients are in the Chicago area. Gov. Pritzker says officials are holding daily briefings on the Coronavirus to keep the public informed. The disaster proclamation will let the state recoup response costs from the Federal government and authorizes the Governor to activate Illinois National Guard reservists, some of whom may be doctors or nurses.
