May 12th, 2020- U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis announced the winner of the 2020 Congressional Art Competition for the 13th District. First place was awarded to Dorie Bulthuis, a senior at Cerro Gordo High School and second place went to Kaelyn Albert, a senior at Mt. Zion High School.

The first place submission will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for one year and be invited to attend the official ceremony in Washington. Additionally, the second-place submission will be displayed in Davis’ Decatur district office.
Congratulations to Dorie and Kaelyn on their accomplishment,” Davis said. “I look forward to seeing their artwork proudly displayed in the U.S. Capitol and in my Decatur office.”
Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives as an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district. The Congressional Art Competition was created in 1982, and hundreds of thousands of high school students have participated throughout the years. One winner is chosen from each participating district, and the winner’s artwork is then sent to Washington, D.C. for display in the U.S. Capitol.
