August 12, 2020 – A non-profit group known as Friends of the Lincoln Square Theater has recently gained ownership of the theater and its operations.  Friends of the Lincoln Square Theater was formed after the City put a notice on the building back in May.  This morning, it was announced that the group is seeking to raise $500,000 for repairs on the historic landmark.  Some private donations have already been made and the group is planning partnerships with local businesses.

Since acquiring the building in July, FLST has been cleaning up the building and had it inspected to see what renovations and repairs were needed.  The group has also acquired the Odd Fellows building next door, which had once been a part of the theater.

In the near future, FLST plan on rearranging the main level seating in order to allow for more staging in the middle of the floor.  The acquisition of the Odd Fellows building will allow for larger events such as weddings to be held in the theater.  There is a plan for an open house this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those who would like to donate or help with the restoration effort should go to the theater’s new website at lincolnsquaretheater.com
