August 21, 2020 – Governor Pritzker has announced he will further extend the state’s current moratorium on evictions before it expires tomorrow. The moratorium will be extended by another month to help those who have not been able to make payments during the pandemic. Earlier this week the governor also extended the deadline for renters to apply for $5,000 to cover the cost of housing.
Renters can also apply for a grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program if the pandemic has caused them to lose income due to reduced hours or loss of their job.
