August 24, 2020 – The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association launched Makers Hiring today.  Makers Hiring is a new public education campaign that will be used to match job seekers with open positions in the manufacturing sector.  The pandemic has had a negative effect on employment, but there are still jobs available in the manufacturing industry in Illinois that need to be filled.  So far, almost 50 companies have registered for Makers Hiring and are looking to fill over 950 positions.

Since April, Illinois manufacturers have added 28,500 jobs.

“Manufacturing has answered our nation’s call once again, helping lead our state and nation through the pandemic. While we have a long way to go before we can fully recover, we’re encouraged to see job growth in the state’s manufacturing sector,” said Mark Denzler, president and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. “However, many companies are struggling to find qualified workers. Our new Makers Hiring campaign will highlight good-paying manufacturing jobs that are open in every corner of Illinois and help connect job seekers with employers.”
