BREAKING: Region 6, Including Macon County, Enters Tier 1 Mitigation Measures

October 30, 2020 – Governor Pritzker and IDPH announced that COVID-19 resurgence mitigations will be implemented in Region 6 beginning at 12:01 am on Monday, November 2, 2020.  Region 6 includes the counties of Champaign, Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Ford, Iroquois, Jasper, Lawrence, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, Richland, Shelby, and Vermillion.

These are the same measures that have gone into effect in other regions of the state and are considered Tier 1 mitigation measures.  Region 1, the northern stateline region, is in Tier 2 mitigation and has more stringent mitigation measures at this time.   For clarity, this doesn’t mean we are going back to Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan.  This is more targeted mitigation.  Other areas, such as fitness centers, offices, etc., are still under the same Phase 4 guidelines.

Mitigation measures taking effect November 2 in Region 6 include:

Bars 

  • No indoor service
  • All outside bar service closes at 11:00 p.m.
  • All bar patrons should be seated at tables outside
  • No ordering, seating, or congregating at bar (bar stools should be removed)
  • Tables should be 6 feet apart
  • No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting
  • No dancing or standing indoors
  • Reservations required for each party
  • No seating of multiple parties at one table

Restaurants 

  • No indoor dining or bar service
  • All outdoor dining closes at 11:00 p.m.
  • Outside dining tables should be 6 feet apart
  • No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting
  • Reservations required for each party
  • No seating of multiple parties at one table

Meetings, Social Events, Gatherings 

  • Limit to lesser of 25 guests or 25 percent of overall room capacity
  • No party buses
  • Gaming and Casinos close at 11:00 p.m., are limited to 25 percent capacity, and follow mitigations for bars and restaurants, if applicable

These mitigations do not apply to schools or polling places.

The region will operate under these mitigation measures until 14 days have passed and the region reaches a 7-day rolling positive rate average of less than 6.5%.
