Rapper King Von was shot and killed outside of an Atlanta nightclub early Friday morning (November 6th). He was 26. According to TMZ, law enforcement sources say that the shootout broke out outside of Monaco Hookah Lounge in downtown Atlanta, with gunfire being exchanged between two groups of men after an argument.
Although original reports said that Atlanta police officers shot the rapper, that turned out to be false. Two off duty police officers who worked at the club tried to intervene during the shooting. They were not injured.
Sources say that six people were shot, included three who remained at the scene and were transported to the hospital by EMS. Three other people fled the scene, but also ended up in the hospital.
According to one of King Von's closest friends, the rapper and two others succumbed to their wounds.
The site reported that there is a video that is circulating on line from the shooting. In the clip, you can see a group of men fighting before shots ring and and several peopel go down. Von is seen being helped into a vehicle that speeds off to the hospital.
King Von, born Dayvon Bennett, was a rapper on the rise from Chicago. He dropped his first single “Crazy Story” in 2018 and collaborated with Lil Durk several times.
Durk reacted to the news, writing on Instagram, “MY TWIN GONE. I LOVE YOU BABY BRO – D ROY !!!!!”
Lebron James added, “The kid had a damn good future ahead of him. My prayers and blessings to his family.”
Von's girlfriend rapper Asian Doll also took to social media to react, saying, “I wanna die 2 shid it feel like I'm dead already. I'll never be the same I just hope you visit me in all my dreams I just wanna sleep so I can picture us again I just wanna close my eyes & never open then again… “
She continued, “Von I'm gone broken heart emoji … My heart is gone I'm just a empty soul in a human body I rather die then to feel this pain I CANT TAKE IT IM NOT STRONG ENOUGH VON.”
MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN MURDER OF KING VON
Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon (November 7th), Atlanta police announced that 22-year-old Timothy Leeks was arrested in the fatal shooting of King Von. Leeks was also hospitalized due toa gunshot wound. He is now facing a charge of felony murder.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Marla Jean Rooker told The Atlanta Journal Constitution, “Mr. Leeks is in police custody at Grady Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound, The homicide of Bennett is closed with this arrest.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is treating the incident as an officer-involved shooting.
