December 3, 2020 – Today, Memorial Health Systems warned the public about an attempted scam that involves phone calls that appear to come for their main phone number. Memorial learned of unknown parties using the system’s 217-788-3000 phone number and have been making calls to local residents that make it appear like the calls are coming from Memorial Health System. The people calling then claim that the recipient must pay a bill, or have attempted to sell a product.
Calls coming from the Memorial Health Systems number would be about scheduling or confirming appointments. If a patient has a concern about the authenticity of a call, they should hang up and call back. MHS says that incoming calls have not been impacted. If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, you should contact the local police immediately.
