LISTEN: What’s It Like Working on “The Mandalorian”? MacArthur Graduate Wes Franklin

December 11, 2020 – MacArthur graduate Wes Franklin joined Byers & Co to talk about his career path to becoming a visual artist at Industrial Lights & Magic working on major productions including The Mandalorian.

After graduation, Wes attended Savannah College of Art and Design to get a BFA and study Visual Effects and graduated in 2007.  After graduating, Wes had the chance to move to Los Angeles and started his career as a Lighting, texture, and look-development artist at Rhythm & Hues Studio working on films such as ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, and ‘The Wolfman’.

After his stint in LA, he had the opportunity to move to London, UK to work for the Moving Picture Company (MPC), and worked on films such as “Harry Potter”, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “World War Z” and more.
He now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, Working for Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) as an artist and currently a Lighting Supervisor and Look-development on various films and shows.  He has worked on films and projects such as “Jurassic World”, “The Revenant”, “Black Panther”, “Aladdin”, “Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker”, “The Mandalorian (Season 2)” and many more.
