December 20, 2020 – The Decatur Area Arts Council has released an original Christmas song specifically about and for Decatur.
The Arts Council says “Christmastime in Soy City” is intended to be a festive greeting card to the community and to provide some Christmas cheer, especially during THIS holiday season.
It is filled with obvious Decatur references, such as the Transfer House, Chicken Car, and cheese toasties.
It is available on most online platforms to stream or to purchase (YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Apple Music.) You can also listen here.
Originally written and performed for a local Christmas show in 2017, this 2020 recording is a collaboration with the musicians from Millikin University’s ROCK U program. Proceeds generated by the song will support the Decatur Area Arts Council and ROCK U.
