Decatur Park District’s Sled Hill Recommendations

January 4, 2021 – With the first (big) snowfall covering Central Illinois in a blanket of snow, sledders took to the hills around the area. The Decatur Park District offered suggestions for sledders on what hills are the best in the area parks system.

The Park District recommended several hills in Nelson Park, specifically in the near corner of Powers Blvd and Nelson Park Blvd, as well as the large hill down by the 36 bridge.

For those out by Fairview Park, the Park District recommends the hillside facing the fire station. This hillside has seen an increase in use over recent years.

The Park District also highlighted several hills out at the Scovill Activity Center (formerly Scovill Golf Course) off of West Main Street.

The Decatur Park District reminds anyone who sleds on park property that they do so at their own risk.
