January 12, 2021 – With Christmas and New Year’s over, what do you do with all of the cardboard boxes that have carried all your gifts and packages? More cardboard is being generated by homes rather than businesses during the pandemic and that means an increase in smaller boxes – one big box can turn into 30 smaller boxes.
Midwest Fiber Recycling accepts cardboard boxes for curbside pickup as well as dropoff at their location at 1781 Hubbard Ave in Decatur. They ask that you break up boxes (not cut them into small pieces) to make the pickup easier.
There are also things included in the boxes that are not recyclable, such as packaging materials such as packing peanuts and plastics, silica gels, and freezers that are included in frozen meal kits.
Below is a link to recyclables that Midwest Fiber Recycling will accept. All are accepted for drop-off, besides glass.
