January 13, 2021 – The Decatur Family YMCA purchased nine Aerus Guardian air purification systems to help combat viruses and airborne contaminates – including the COVID-19 virus.
Cleared by the FDA to be considered Medical Grade II, these free standing units are primarily used in healthcare environments. In addition, they have also been certified as space technology – with units being used at the International Space Station.
The Aerus Medical Guardian purification system draws air in from the area in which the unit is located. As the air moves through the device, it destroys captured microorganisms – creating safer and cleaner air.
“Our top priority has always been to keep members and staff healthy and safe,” said Director of Development and Membership, Abby Helm. “More than ever, we want to ensure we are doing our part in helping to slow the spread of the coronavirus and protecting our community by making sure the facility is clean and sanitized. These purifiers help give peace of mind by adding another layer of protection against COVID-19 and other viruses.”
The purchase of these air purifiers was made possible by funding from the John Ullrich Foundation. The units were installed throughout the YMCA including the wellness center and pool area.
