Process to Fill Manar’s Vacant Senate Seat Announced

January 18, 2021 – The process to fill the vacant seat of former State Senator Andy Manar has been announced.

Manar resigned from his seat in the 48th State Senate District and accepted a position as a Senior Advisor for Governor JB Pritzker.

The 48th Senate District encompasses part or all of Christian, Macon, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery, and Sangamon counties.

Manar’s seat has 2 years remaining and will be filled by the 48th Legislative District Committee.  The Committee is currently accepting applications.

Requirements include being a resident of the 48th State Senate District, be at least 21 years of age, a Democrat of good standing within the party for at least 2 years.

To be considered, interested people need to submit a resume, a statement explaining their involvement within the party, headshot, and a detailed statement of their platform and vision for the district.

Applications should be emailed to il48senate@gmail.com by 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25.

The 48th Legislative District Committee will review the applications before interviews are conducted at the end of January. The Committee will then vote on an appointment on February 6th.
