January 20, 2021 – The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a statement urging everyone to continue to follow safety precautions as regions of Illinois begin to move through different levels of COVID-19 mitigations. The past few days have seen a number of changes, with some areas shifting to another tier or phase and others making their own decisions.
Regardless, IDPH Director Ngozi Ezike stated that everyone should continue mask-wearing and social distancing practices.
“I hope that people will see that these mitigations have done what they’re supposed to. They’ve brought down the number of people in the hospitals, they’ve brought down the positivity rate, but now that those numbers have come down we have to do our part to protect it there.” said Ezike.
Region 6, which includes Macon County, recently went back to tier one mitigations. For a list of tier one mitigations, go here.
