January 20, 2021 – The Human Trafficking Research Lab at Millikin University is partnering with Set Free Macon County to host its fourth annual panel discussion for Human Trafficking Awareness Month entitled “Impact of COVID-19 on Human Trafficking.”
The panel discussion will be live-streamed on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 4 pm on Millikin University’s Facebook page and will round out events held around the United States for Human Trafficking Awareness Month 2021.
The panel will feature local anti-trafficking experts from the Central Illinois Human Trafficking Task Force including Sara Sefried, director of Human Trafficking Services at The Center for Prevention of Abuse; Ashley Reichert, assistant center chief for the Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center with the Illinois State Police; and Micaela Garrido, outreach coordinator for the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services.
The panel will discuss the implications of human trafficking efforts to investigate and rehabilitate survivors during the pandemic. If viewers have questions for the panelists, they can share them in the discussion section of the Facebook event page or in the comments section during the discussion.
