February 1, 2021- The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) will be holding COVID-19 Moderna Vaccination Clinics tomorrow and February 5th at the MCHD Building (1221 E. Condit St.).
The COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics at the MCHD are ONLY for eligible Phase 1a and 1b individuals who wish to receive their FIRST dose of the vaccine. These clinics are only for those who live or work in Macon County.
Starting TODAY, February 1, 2021 at 12:00 noon, those who wish to be vaccinated may schedule an appointment by:
• Visiting the following link HERE. This link is designated for the clinics taking place on February 2nd and February 5th ONLY. You can begin scheduling appointments at 12:00 noon today but NOT BEFORE.
• Calling (217) 718-6205. This phone line will not be activated until February 1, 2021, at 12:00 noon. Once the appointments are full, a recording will inform the caller that there are no more appointments available.
Examples of Phase 1b persons eligible to receive the vaccine at this time include, but are not limited to: persons aged 65 years and older and frontline essential workers, defined as those workers who are essential for the functioning of society and are at highest risk of exposure, including the following: first responders (firefighters, law enforcement officers, 911 dispatch, security personnel, school officers); corrections officers; food and agriculture (processing, plants, veterinary health, livestock services, animal care) workers; postal service workers; manufacturing workers; grocery store workers; public transit workers; education (congregate childcare and pre-k through 12th grade); and shelters/adult day care.
Examples of Phase 1a persons include, but are not limited to: physicians, nurses, respiratory technicians, dentists and hygienists, nursing assistants, assisted living facility staff, long-term care facility staff, group home staff, home caregivers, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Those who plan to attend should:
• Bring a work ID badge or current paystub to verify frontline essential worker status or a form of ID to verify age to prove eligibility (Those who cannot provide proof of residency or employment in Macon County will be turned away.);
• Bring a copy of your insurance card. If you are unable to make a copy, please bring the original;
• Wear a short sleeve shirt and face covering;
• Complete vaccine forms, print, and bring them to the clinic to save time. The vaccine forms can be found HERE. If you are unable to complete and print the forms, they will also be available onsite;
• Be prepared to complete the MCHD screening process upon arrival. This process includes answering questions as well as a temperature check. The MCHD has and will continue to follow the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) guidelines and Illinois Department of Public Health guidance when deciding who will receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
At this time, those who are not eligible to receive the vaccination in Phases 1a and 1b will be turned away. Those who have received monoclonal antibody or convalescent plasma treatments or have had COVID-19 within the past 90 days should wait until after their 90-day window to receive the vaccine. Persons who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding are required to bring an order or note from their doctor to receive the vaccine. Please be reminded that the MCHD and our community partners will continue to schedule vaccination clinics over the next several weeks and months.
