February 3, 2021 – Attorney General Kwame Raoul is joining a nationwide effort to help protect the public from robocalls. Raoul and many of his counterparts in other states are looking to overturn a federal court decision that said the telephone consumer protection act couldn’t be used to combat robocalls from 2015-2020.

“We’ve joined in a bipartisan basis as 35 Attorney Generals to file an amicus brief supporting the argument that the act can still be used, amongst other tools that we have, to hold those annoying robocalling and telemarketing callers accountable,” said Raoul.

Raoul says that while spam filters implemented by phone carriers help, that his office still gets a large number of complaints about robocalls.
