Parents split on risk of reopening schools or staying virtual

By Wes Styles Feb 12, 2021 | 2:02 PM

As the COVID-19 vaccines continue to rollout across America, schools have begun to reopen in phases. However, not all teachers have been given priority status to get the vaccine.

Roughly one-quarter (29%) of American parents in a HuffPost/YouGov poll think could be completely reopened. 28% feel a hybrid model is best with partially reopened schools. 34% say schools should stick with virtual learning and remain closed.

When you get to political beliefs, most Republicans want schools fully reopened (55%). 29% of Independents and only 6% of Democrats believe the same.

Democrats and Independents back the idea of staying virtual over Republics (40% and 31% to 13%).
