February 25, 2021 – Governor J.B. Pritzker is announcing 11 million dollars in Rebuild Illinois Grants for economic development projects across the state. The grants are going to projects that will require a big investment to begin and will be leveraged against local and private money. Governor Pritzker says that this will fund 11 projects and create over 800 jobs.
“By giving these initiatives the upfront and transformative funding boost that they need to move forward we’re spurring a chain of new public and private investments aligned with what the communities want to see,” said Pritzker.
The project will include the redevelopment of Brownfield sites in Peoria and Rockford, expanding residential and commercial building space in Marion, and building affordable housing for seniors in East St. Louis.
