March 25, 2021 – Decatur residents who have experienced income loss to the COVID-19 pandemic, may be eligible for financial assistance for their rent or mortgage payments along with utilities, gas, and electricity. The City of Decatur secured a relief grant from HUD and in partnership with Dove Financial Assistance can assist City of Decatur Residents who provide needed supporting information along with an Application. The Application is available on Dove’s website. Applicants can also set an appointment to pick up materials by calling 217-619-9108.
Dove Financial Assistance is located inside of Northeast Community Fund, 839 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Decatur, and appointments for picking up an application or returning support materials can be scheduled between 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Payments are made directly to the vendor (landlord, mortgage company utility -gas and electric) through Dove, Inc. Applicants must present documentation of need, be income eligible, documentation on financially being affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic, and live in the City of Decatur.
Dove Financial Assistance Program (formerly known as MAX) has been serving as an emergency financial assistance program since the mid-1980s, helping thousands of families in need. DFA was excited to be selected by the City of Decatur to assist in distributing this relief aid during this incredibly difficult time. Many families have already been served since December 14, 2020, and Dove looks forward to working with applicants to help out many more.
