April 6, 2021 – The DPS61 Board of Education has 4 new board members following the Macon County Consolidated Election after no incumbents sought re-election. Al Scheider received the highest total of votes with 21.04 % of the vote, followed by Kevin Collins- Brown with 18.56%, Jason WayneDion with 15.09%, and Alana Banks with 14.83% according to unofficial election results. 7 candidates vied for the 4 open seats on the Board of Education.
Incumbents David Horn and Chuck Khule were re-elected to the Decatur City Council along with new councilman, Ed Culp. Khule received the most votes with 20.45% of the votes. Horn received 20.3% of the vote and Culp received 19.68% of the vote.
For the Decatur Park Board, Incumbents Stacey Young and Bob Brilley II won re-election with 38.87% and 35.21% respectively.
Macon County Clerk Josh Tanner said turnout for the consolidated election was around 20% overall.
