April 19, 2021 – Each year on April 22, people around the world come together for Earth Day to highlight the importance of conserving energy, reducing waste, and treating the planet with respect and care.
In honor of Earth Day, colleagues at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will hold a special prayer service and plant a Japanese maple tree at 10 am on the hospital campus near the new HSHS Medical Group Multi-Specialty Clinic. As part of the service, spiritual care minister, Joe Allen, will bless the newly planted tree. “We plant this tree and join together in prayer to help us reflect on the gift of our planet as well as give thanks right here in our small part of this earth,” said Allen.
Each attendee will receive vegetable and flower seed packets as well as a sustainability tip sheet.
