April 22, 2021 – Celebrate Earth Day and welcome spring with a day of in-person and virtual activities. The Macon County Conservation District and Decatur Audubon Society will be holding their 39th/40th Annual Festival of Spring and Sangamon River Clean-Up on Saturday, April 24.
Help clear trash from the banks of the Sangamon River during the Sangamon River Cleanup from 10 am-12 pm. Dress to get dirty and bring your own gloves. Bags will be provided. Families and individuals must pre-register online by noon on April 23 at MaconCountyConservation.org. Organized groups should call in advance, so they can accommodate the size of your group: 217-423-7708.
Note: This year, due to COVID-19, participants should park and meet at the Wyckles Road Canoe Launch, located on the western edge of Rock Springs Conservation Area. Staff will NOT be transporting people to and from the main Rock Springs parking lot. Maximum of 40 people.
