May 12, 2021 – Join Macon County Conservation District’s Historic Sites Manager, Brent Wielt, to learn about Recent Archaeological Discoveries at Homestead Prairie Farm.
During a 2018 project to strengthen the foundation of the historic Trobaugh-Good House at Homestead Prairie Farm, dirt that had laid dormant for over 100 years was removed. Sifting the dirt has revealed a wide variety of artifacts, including pieces of dishes, brick, plaster, various metal objects, small animal bones, and more.
Learn more about these discoveries either in person or virtually via Zoom: Attend in person at Rock Springs Nature Center on Sunday, May 23 at 2 pm, or attend virtually via Zoom on Thursday, May 27 at 6:30 pm.
The event is free to the public. Register online no later than noon on May 21 for the in-person program, and by noon on May 26 for the virtual presentation at MaconCountyConservation.org. A link to the virtual Zoom meeting will be emailed to those registered for the May 27 program.
