Not a joke, but a real statement from the CDC: stop kissing chickens. The recent PSA says that pecking with the birds may be spreading salmonella.
Owning chickens has become trendy thanks for the pandemic. Now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is having to take time away from stopping a global pandemic to remind Americans of basic farming rules — i.e. stop kissing and snuggling with your birds!
There have been 163 confirmed cases of salmonella in 43 states reported.
“Backyard poultry can carry Salmonella germs even if they look healthy and clean. These germs can easily spread in areas where they live and roam.” – CDC
