
June 21, 2021 – Symphony Orchestra Guild of Decatur is holding an instrument drive going on now through Wednesday, June 30.
Gently used instruments may be brought to Decatur Area Arts Council. Donors also have the option to sponsor a Beginning Musician Starter kit. All donations will directly support Decatur Public Schools Foundation and their Instrument Library.
Donations to Symphony Orchestra Guild of Decatur’s Instrument drive are tax-deductible. The Instrument Library makes musical instruments accessible to students of Decatur Public Schools.
The Guild is currently seeking to add the instruments listed below to the instrument library:
● Flute
● Oboe
● Basson
● Clarinet
● Saxophone (alto, tenor, and bari)
● Trumpet
● French Horn
● Trombone
● 3/4 Baritone
● 3/4 Tuba
● Percussion Bell Kits with Practice Pad
● Violins
● Violas
● Cellos
They are not accepting keyboard, acoustic guitars, ukeleles, or drum sets at this time. With a gift of $40, you can sponsor a beginning musician today and help set them up for success as they begin their musical journey to sponsor a beginning instrumental student with your gift. Beginning Instrument Starter Kits include a music stand, beginning method book, drawstring bag, pencil, and other necessary instrumental supplies (cleaning swabs, reeds, cork grease, valve oil, and rosin.
