June 22, 2021 – Explore the trails at Sand Creek Conservation Area on an Independence Day Hike on Saturday, July 3 at 10 am.
Join a naturalist to walk along the Paris-Springfield Road, one of the earliest roads in Central Illinois. This historic road linked Paris, IL and Springfield, IL, and was traveled by Abraham Lincoln. Part of it is now preserved in the trail system at Sand Creek.
This program is free and for all ages. Must pre-register online by noon on Friday, July 2 at MaconCountyConservation.org.
Sand Creek Conservation Area is located 4 miles south of downtown Decatur, at 4314 South Franklin Street Road.
