July 14, 2021 – The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile stopped at the Children’s Museum of Illinois today, as part of their cross-country tour that also includes Louisiana, Rhode Island, and Montana.
The Wienermobile was parked with the Hero’s Hall fire truck and helicopter as part of the experience for children.
“Everyone here is so excited, everyone is happy, it’s bringing joy to everyone’s life. I think right now that’s really important. People right now really want to smile and have a good time. I mean, who doesn’t love a giant hot dog on wheels?” said Abby Koester, President, and CEO of the Children’s Museum of Illinois. “People of all ages know that when they see a giant hot dog on wheels, it’s Oscar Mayer and it’s something that connects generations around this one thing.”
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was first created in 1936 by Carl Mayer and has made relatively few changes in the time since. The drivers, known as Hotdoggers, go on a year-long trip to visit different parts of the country to spread joy and give out the famous Wienie Whistles.
