August 9, 2021 – The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) would like to share a COVID-19 Transmission Update with the community. As positive COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Macon County, MCHD will continue to follow the recommendation from IDPH and CDC that all individuals ages 2+ wear a face covering, regardless of vaccination status, in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission. At this time, Macon County is considered an area of high transmission, which is defined as the rate at which a virus passes from one individual to another.

For updated transmissibility rates, please visit the CDC’s COVID-19 Integrated County View page here.

We must stay vigilant and take the proper precautions to protect ourselves and others. If you have not received a COVID-19 vaccine, please consider visiting a clinic to receive your dose(s) or contact your healthcare provider to discuss the importance of receiving the vaccine. Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least twenty seconds. If there is no access to water and soap, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol until soap and water are available. Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when appropriate. Practice safe physical/social distancing when around those outside of your household. If you are sick, please stay home and get tested for COVID-19 if you feel you have been exposed or are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
