September 2, 2021 – Today, the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois delivering 1,100 boxes of cookies secured through Operation Cookie Share to Decatur Memorial Hospital, Crossing Healthcare, St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur Police Department, and the Macon County Sheriff’s office.
This was the 8th annual Decatur Operation Cookie Share, which was created to show appreciation and care for our military, frontline responders, healthcare providers, and community through the comfort of Girl Scout cookies.
When asked what makes this event an important lesson to Girl Scouts, Stacey LaFeber, Fund Development Professional for Girl Scouts of Central Illinois said, “They get that early on, of knowing what it means to find their voice and use it for good and give back to their community, and this is one way to do it…it’s a way to say an extra thank you and remind them that the community is all behind them, including the Girl Scouts.”
