October 4, 2021 – To launch Manufacturing Month and support the State of Illinois effort to electrify Illinois, T/CCI Manufacturing has announced a new program headlined by All-American Center Kofi Cockburn and members of Illinois varsity sports teams.

Cockburn and more than 15 student-athletes will work with T/CCI to help promote manufacturing jobs, clean energy, electrification, gender equity, wellness, and other altruistic critical workforce initiatives across the globe.

T/CCI Manufacturing President Richard Demirjian said this is a start to the new Name Image Likeness rules and T/CCI plans to have long-term relationships with the University of Illinois and other student-athletes, “We’ve got not only Kofi, we picked 20 athletes between all the different sports out there, so we’ve got hopefully a representation of every sport at the University of Illinois. But we’re looking to continue to expand here and also with other universities across the country.” he said.

The event included students from Decatur Public Schools and Kofi addressed the students about how important mental toughness and consistency are in order to be successful. “Growing up you hear about mental toughness and you really don’t know what it means. Coach Brad (Underwood) really broke it down for me. Mental toughness is the thing when after you’re fatigued and everything has gone bad, how do you react to it?”
