Hieronymus Mueller Museum announces new Director and switch to full-time staff

November 3, 2021 – The Hieronymus Mueller Museum announced its switch to full-time staff and a new Museum Director. The Hieronymus Mueller Family Foundation, which owns the museum, hired Katherine Unruh to serve as the new Museum Director. In addition, Assistant Director, Lauren Taylor will also now work full-time.

“The Mueller Museum is delighted that Katherine Unruh has joined us as full-time Museum Director,” says Board President, John Mueller. “Katherine brings with her an advanced educational background in museum administration and years of organized and focused non-profit service. We are excited at the future prospects for the Museum under Katherine’s leadership.”

Katherine Unruh has been a member of the Decatur community for the past eight years. She has a master’s degree in Historical Administration from Eastern Illinois University, and most recently worked as Marketing Specialist at the Macon County Conservation District.

“The Mueller Museum is an asset to Decatur,” says new Director, Katherine Unruh. “I’m looking forward to continuing the museum’s mission and helping our community enrich their lives by connecting with Decatur’s past.”

Katherine Unruh follows two of the most recent Directors: Laura Jahr and Mike Deatherage.

The Hieronymus Mueller Museum tells the story of Hieronymus Mueller, his family, and the company he created in Decatur. The museum is located near downtown Decatur, at 420 W. Eldorado Street, in Decatur, IL.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children, and free for all Mueller employees and retirees.
