November 8, 2021 – The new structure housing the Richland Community College agricultural program was raised today and featured a unique type of barn raising. FBi Buildings showcased its use of hydraulic cylinders, I-beams, scissors-lift technology, and safety nets to allow its crew to assemble a complete structure. This distinctive building process was first demonstrated by FBi during the Farm Progress Show earlier this year. Richland has been waiting for the weather to cooperate so the wall frames and hinges can be attached in order for FBi to raise the whole structure into place hydraulically. The building is scheduled to be ready to host Fall 2022 classes.

“We’re going to have facilities, we’re going to have classrooms, we’re going to have an auditorium. We’re going to have a room for an incubator for our program. It’s going to be an amazing comprehensive agriculture building for our students and our community,” said Dr. Isaac Zuniga.  “We’re looking for sustainability. When you think about the industry we try and be as innovative as possible, so this is the future. Not only is it cost saving for us as an institution, but the time to build this building from bottom to top is significant.”
