November 24, 2021 – Yesterday the Chamber of Commerce hosted Decatur’s 68th annual Community Thanksgiving Luncheon. The event returned after a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Nearly 700 people gathered for the event, which was headlined by Keynote Speaker Jim Getz, the former Chief of Police of the Decatur Police Department.

When asked how being made Keynote Speaker for the luncheon made him feel, Getz said, “I was very, very humbled. When I said at the beginning of my speech that I was humbled, I truly was. I grew up here in Decatur, went to the public schools here. I never thought I’d have the opportunities I’ve had, so I was truly humbled.”

In years past, the event has had over 800 attendees but the event was capped at 650 this year.
