Ashanti and Maxwell were honored at the 2021 Soul Train Music Awards last night (November 28th). Ashanti was honored with the Lady of Soul Award and later performed her hits like “Happy,” “Rain On Me” “Baby” and “Foolish.” Maxwell accepted the Living Legend Award and also performed his classics like “Till The Cops Come Knockin,” “Sumthin Sumthin,” “Ascension” and more.
In addition, Silk Sonic and Jazmine Sullivan picked up the most awards of the night, with Silk Sonic taking home three awards and Jazmine taking home two, including Album of the Year for Heaux Tales.
PERFORMANCES
Silk Sonic opened the show with a performance of “Fly As Me.” They later closed the show with a performance of “Smoking Out The Window.”
Hosts Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell performed “Dancing In The Street,” and “Dancing Machine before bringing out El DeBarge to perform “Rhythym of the Night.”
Ari Lennox took to the stage with a sexy performance of her single “Pressure.”
Lucky Daye bought the house down with a performance of “Calling Me Back.”
Leon Bridges bought the soul with a performance of “Beyond.”
Summer Walker teamed up with Ari Lennox for a soulful rendition of “Unloyal.”
