Aly Barnes, Katie Yelaska, Hope Roderick, & Brigid Duesterhaus, Millikin Triathletes

LISTEN: Millikin All American Triathletes, Aly Barnes, Katie Yelaska, Hope Roderick, & Brigid Duesterhaus, discuss the fall season success & the future of the program.

The Millikin Women’s triathlon team finished the 2021 fall season, with a second place finish at the National Collegiate Triathlon Championship.

This is the highest finish for the program thus far. In three years(did not compete last season due to a Covid-19 cancellation), the team has finished in third place, twice, and now second place.

If finishing in second place wasn’t enough, the Big Blue had four triathletes finish with All American honors, at the Championship.

Senior Hope Roderick and Junior Katie Yelaska, earned First Team All-American honors. Roderick finished in fourth place, with a time of 1:14:26.3. She also had the fastest Big Blue time in the run, with a time of 22:29. Yelaska placed seventh, with a time of 1:16:37, and she had the fastest Big Blue bike time, with 39:01.

Senior Brigid Duesterhaus earned Second Team All-American honors. Freshman Aly Barnes, earned All-American Honorable Mention honors. Duesterhaus finished in 11th place, with a time of 1:18:43.6. Barnes  placed 16th, with a time of 1:21:02.7.

All four triathletes are now competing in the swim season.
