The EnRich Minority Mentor Protege Program hosted its’ inaugural Pitch Competition, at Richland Community College.
“The Minority Mentor Protege Program was developed to help and assist the underserved community start and operate their own entities,” said Dr. Jeremy Morris, director of the Enrich Minority Mentor Protege Program. “Whether that be for profit or not for profit, we are here to try to eliminated barriers to entity development and operation and ownership.”
On Saturday, several participants of the MMPP, who had completed the Ice House Entrepreneurship Training, pitched their businesses or business concepts to a panel of judges.
The event was held in the Shilling Auditorium, and was open to the public.
The competition was divided into two categories. Existing entity and new/concept entity. A winner was selected for each category, and was awarded $2,250. There was also an audience favorite award and the prize was $500.
The winner for existing entity, was Jey L. Owens. The winner for new/concept entity was Roxanne Thompson. The audience favorite was Mesha Fields.
The Minority Mentor Protege Program will be holding their third cohort for the Ice House Entrepreneurship Training, in February of 2021.
