LISTEN: Olivia Lett, Millikin Women’s  Head Basketball Coach, talked about the 2021-2022, and what makes the team successful.

Last season, in a Covid-shortened season, Lett and her squad finished with an overall record of 11-3 and 8-3 record in conference play. The Big Blue defeated rival Illinois Wesleyan, to win the CCIW Tournament.

This season, some of those key contributors from last season’s Championship team, returned.

Graduate senior Jordan Hildebrand has been a force on defense, but also has been efficient on offense. Hildebrand leads the conference in field goal percentage, with .559. Along with her on the floor prowess, her veteran status helps make her somewhat of another coach for her younger teammates. Last season, Hildebrand won First Team All Conference.

Sophomore Elyce Knudsen leads the conference in scoring with 19.9 points per game, while Junior Bailey Coffman is fifth with 13.5 points per game. Last season, Knudsen was CCIW Newcomer of the Year and was First-Team All Conference. Coffman was also First-Team All Conference.

So far this season, the Big Blue are 14-4 overall, and 8-1 in CCIW play. They are tied for first in the conference, with Illinois Wesleyan.

Millikin will play Carthage College, on Saturday, January 29th, at 2 p.m.
