March 4, 2022 – EITC’s annual Rube Goldberg contraption showcase is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Eisenhower High School gym.
Each year, Engineer in the Classroom (EITC) works with professional engineers in our area to send volunteer engineers into 5th grade classrooms. While in the classrooms, the engineers teach the students rudimentary engineering lessons, and the program culminates with the construction of a Rube Goldberg machine designed and built by the students. The machine has to accomplish a task set forth and has various constraints placed on it.
At the showcase, the students present to a panel of judges, who score the machines based on several criteria. The students work very hard and are proud of their work, pride that is apparent in the presentations they offer the judges and within the excitement they exude as they demonstrate their working machine.
