Nicki Minaj has revealed that Lil Wayne's jokes about her body led her to getting “a** shots” early on in her career. During an interview with Joe Budden, Minaj said, “Social media was just beginning when I started so I was a lot of people's guinea pigs. I was one of the first people to be sh*tted on on the internet. It wasn't acceptable to have surgery at all or anything and at that time, I had never had surgery. I had a** shots, which, to this day, I realize even with me not consulting with anyone to do something like that, how insane that was…”
She continued, “And actually what happened was I kept on being around Lil Wayne and them. At that time, you know Wayne, he's always talking about big booties… Wayne would have a new chick in the studio every session. So they were his muses but I just was around them all the time and I was like the little sister. This is what you're supposed to look like in the rap culture and I don't look like that.”
When Budden asked if any of the men she was around tried to pressure her into getting surgery, she said, “No! They never told me that– well, no. I'm lying. I think Wayne, I think they said stuff sometimes jokingly but to a young girl or up-and-coming rapper, when it's from someone like Lil Wayne, it matters. Even if they're joking, they don't know that the person that is there in that room with them is not finding it funny.”

Meanwhile, Nicki also gave Lil Kim her flowers in the interview, saying that Lil Kim should have been on the cover of U.S. Vogue, saying, “The same way I feel I should have been on the cover of American Vogue, so should Lil Kim (have been). If we being all the way a thousand.”
She continued, “If this is what your magazine represents…influence. How do you not grant us covers. If we being honest. Because when myself or Lil Kim goes on the internet, every day we see our influence. We will see our influence. So, I’m not gonna say it’s about me only and not give that woman Kim her dues.”
