March 18, 2022 – Tom Brinkoetter and Ryan Campbell joined Byers & Co to introduce Joey Brinkoetter and talk about the family-owned business that is now in its third generation.
In 1965, Tom Brinkoetter, Sr., founded a Decatur company with a singular goal: to support his community’s real estate needs with integrity, purpose, and a forward-facing approach to business.
Fifty-five years later, Brinkoetter Realtors still embodies that spirit under the leadership of his son, owner Tom Brinkoetter, and his team of more than 60 agents. Tom’s wife Patty and daughter Alyssa help support the family-owned business, and son Joey Brinkoetter has recently joined on as the company’s newest agent.
“It’s incredible to watch this company now spanning across three generations,” says Brinkoetter. “It was important to me that my children chose this work for themselves; that this was a path of their own choosing. And they took it upon themselves to invest in the education and training necessary to become Brinkoetter-level professionals. They have to earn their way alongside every other real estate agent in the company.”
According to Brinkoetter, preparing young, up-and-coming agents for professional success is key to the Brinkoetter culture. “We are a company dedicated to mentoring and cultivating the next generation of leaders,” says Brinkoetter. “We don’t just believe in getting involved and giving back; we believe in being accountable to our friends, neighbors, and community.” Says Joey Brinkoetter of his new role, “It is truly an honor to work alongside my father, to learn from the many experienced agents here at Brinkoetter, and to continue a legacy that began with my grandfather. I grew up with an insider-perspective on the real estate business, but it’s my family’s altruistic spirit that makes me proud to work for the company.”
