March 23, 2022 – Today at IBEW Local 146, Workforce Investment Solutions announced that they had submitted and received an Illinois Works Grant for $499,831.55.
The grant will go towards the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, and the recruiting process is open. They are looking for individuals of at least 18 years of age with an interest in the construction industry. The funding is geared towards the recruitment of women, minorities, and veterans.
“We’re extremely excited to bring this unique training opportunity to the community,” said Rocki Wilkerson, Executive Director of Workforce Investment Solutions. “This particular pre-apprenticeship grant is free at no cost, and we have 50 positions to fill.” she continued. “I can’t explain how fortunate we are to be able to bring this kind of training money into the community.”
