Rick Ross has recalled his years a correctional officer in the mid 90s. In an interview with the Full Send podcast, he said that he worked as a corrections office when he was “maybe 20,” but didn’t work in prisons. He explained, “I didn’t really get to make it to the prison, because you gotta go through training and all that and I didn’t last long. I lasted four months before they said…I was a little tardy.” As for why he pursued the job for a while, he said, “One of my big homies had just got in trouble, and a lot of people…a lot of things were going on. He just suggested it.”
When asked if he enjoyed the work, he said, “I didn’t. Anything you gotta really do, you f*cking running and jogging,” adding that his paycheck was “horrendous,” saying it was “500 bucks like every two weeks.”
During the interview, he later said that he plans to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2024. He said, “I’ma hike to the top of Kilimanjaro. For the rest of this year I’m getting ready, prepared mentally. Next year I get prepared physically.”
