April 1st, 2022- On Friday evening, Johns Hill Magnet school hosted its’ 6th annual International Art Fair. The Fair uses various types of art work to highlight culture and diversity.

From kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as the ESL community, students at Johns Hill, got the chance to show off their art work. Families walked down the halls of the cafeteria corridor and viewed all kinds of art in the Student Artwork Gallery. From paintings to drawings to sculptures, to poster boards. You name it, it was there.

Along with visuals, children were able to participate in interactive art designs. There was henna tattoos, face paintings, and origami.

In another attempt to educate families on the cultures that represent this world, international food samples were served.

Liz Harding, a third grade teacher at Johns Hill, co-chairs the Fair with art teachers Kathy Ganley and April Thornton.

“Tonight is our night to celebrate all the cultures and all of the families that we represent around the world, here at Johns Hill,” Harding said.

Harding’s favorite aspect of the event is the smiles on the students’ faces as they show their families their artwork.

“All night long, just watching these kids come through and then when they go to take their parents to their painting, and they are like look at what I did, look at this,” Harding said. “That’s my favorite part of the night.”
