April 18, 2022 – Today, Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, in partnership with Hickory Point Bank, hosted the annual Operation Cookie Share effort in Springfield and Decatur.
The Decatur cookie donation sites included Central Park and any Hickory Point Bank location. Throughout the day, local Girl Scouts took donations for boxes of cookies to be set aside and donated to military troops serving both at home and overseas, frontline responders, and healthcare workers.
This effort has collected and shared nearly 25,000 boxes of cookies over the last 8 years.
“This is an opportunity to give a piece of home to our military women and men, and then also being able to provide our first responders with a box of cookies to say thanks for all they have done for us,” said Kelly Day, Chief Operating Officer of Girl Scouts of Central Illinois.
“There is nothing better than pulling up to the police station, the fire department, and the hospitals and giving them cookies. They are so thankful when we are so thankful for what they do. It’s very rewarding.” Day said.
