April 25, 2022 – Cathy Peden, a unit secretary in the Emergency Department at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for March.
Peden was nominated by her supervisor, who commended Peden for her professionalism and care during a phone call from a person experiencing a mental health crisis.
“The caller spoke of harming themselves,” said Casie Milner, inpatient nurse manager in the TMH Emergency Department. “Cathy used her skills and training to keep the caller on the phone so she could gather information to alert first responders to the caller’s location.”
Peden, of Edinburg, has worked at Taylorville Memorial Hospital since 2006.
“I really love my job; I love the [Emergency Department] staff and the best part of my job is knowing I can help to make their days a little bit better,” said Peden.
Outside of work, Peden enjoys camping with her family, which includes her grown children and grandchildren.
