April 27, 2022 – Old Kings Orchard Community Center held a Community Healing Fair today in recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

This was a collaborative event, organized by Macon County HEALS, Old Kings Orchard Community Center, Baby Talk, Empowerment Opportunity Center, United Way, and MRI Kids/Bright Start. In addition, the free event was sponsored by Decatur Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital.

The Community Healing Fair highlighted many of the social service organizations that work with victims of crime within our community in a fun and inviting atmosphere where families had the opportunity to interact with the organizations through games and activities.

“We have over 40 organizations here interacting with the community and sharing their information and resources available. We really wanted to highlight the organizations working with victims of crime in our community. Events like these are important because we are able to collaborate and work together and let people know what is available and how to access those resources if they need them.” said Abby Steele, Macon County HEALS Coordinator.
