April 29, 2022 – To celebrate Arbor Day, the Decatur Parks Foundation, Byers & Co and NowDecatur.com held a fundraiser to reforest the parks and offer scholarships for young people to explore park programs. “Plant A Tree, Plant A Seed” was able to raise over $62,000 for new trees and to replenish scholarship funds for park programs. They were joined by Jim Schwartz and Ben Irwin to talk about the importance of Golf programs at the Decatur Park District and the opportunities the Park District Scholarships provide.

Tracy Hewitt, the aquatics and fitness supervisor at Splash Cove, and Kim Mangan and Cindy Bardeleben of Baby Talk joined Byers & Co to talk about the importance of Park District youth scholarships within their organizations during the “Plant a Seed, Plant a Tree” campaign.
Dave Koshinski, CEO of Investment Planners, Inc., Kara Demirjian Huss, Founder of DCC Brand Marketing Agency, Mark Huss, Financial Advisor at Brechnitz Group of Raymond James and Lauren Young of Dales Southlake Pharmacy joined Byers & co during the “Plant a Seed, Plant a Tree” campaign. They discussed the importance of community investment in our parks and Decatur youth.
Ken Frye, Lizzie Van Ert of the Scovill Zoo join Byers & Co during the “Plant a Seed, Plant a Tree” campaign to talk about the many programs at the Scovill Zoo and the importance of assistance programs for Decatur Youth. They were joined by Ben Andreas of the Andreas Foundation, who made a $25,000 matching grant donation to the efforts to reforest the parks and offer scholarships for young people to explore park programs.
Chloe Clark, Parks Marketing Coordinator, Megan Dickerson, Cultural Arts Manager, and Tara Asheg, Accountant and scholarship coordinator for the Decatur Park District, join Byers & Co to talk about the importance of Arts Scholarships with the Decatur Park District.
Julie Bilbrey of the Decatur Memorial Foundation and Katie Myers, marketing coordinator for the Decatur Park District joined Byers & Co to talk about a $2500 donation by the Decatur Memorial Foundation for the “Plant a Seed, Plant a Tree” campaign.
Colin Bonner, Director of Soccer for the Decatur Park District, Shamika Madison of the Decatur Boys and Girls Club, and Jeffrey Perkins of Caring Black Men, joined the “Plant a Seed, Plant a Tree” campaign to talk about youth soccer and the impact of park district scholarships within the Boys and Girls Club.
Ashley Fultz of ADM Cares, Rod Schanefelt, Parks Foundation Board President, Aly Delatte, Parks Foundation Director, and Colin Bonner of Misstate Soccer joined the “Plant a Seed, Plant a Tree” campaign to announce an ADM Cares donation of $18,000.
